Moving Bodywork
Moving Bodywork
Moving Bodywork is an open system of bodywork that draws from many systems of massage, movement, and martial arts. We connect distinct, leverage-based bodywork techniques into flowing, wave motions. Moving Bodywork is organized around ‘movement loops’ : repeatable arcs or circles of body motion. Negotiation of these movement loops reveal impediments to our motility. Our touch reintroduces fluid undulations to stagnant, tight, atrophied, or numbed tissues. Moving Bodywork collapses and expands around tightness, with dynamic tissue holds or strokes. Efficiency, leverage, and contact reinforcement characterize our techniques. Moving Bodywork systematically trains practitioners to induce djverse movements in a client’s body with the use of ours, while ‘swimming’ through accessible layers of tissue. Clients often sense their bodies moving into the bodywork, rather than being penetrated.
Martial arts inspire BodyFlow’s approach to posture, movement and contact. The body mechanics of every stroke is grounded by the study of strikes. Stretches and mobilizations borrow the mechanics of martial holds and throws.
